SAM POLLOCK TROPHY

SAM POLLOCK TROPHY

pollock_200.jpgThe Sam Pollock Trophy, named after the long-time general manager of the Montreal Canadiens and honored member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, was first presented in 1996 and is now awarded to the regular-season winner of the Central Division.

As GM of the Canadiens, Sam Pollock played an instrumental role in the first purchase of an AHL franchise by a National Hockey League team when the Canadiens purchased the Montreal Voyageurs in 1969.

After the club moved to Halifax, the Nova Scotia Voyageurs and Montreal Canadiens won the Calder Cup and Stanley Cup, respectively, in both 1976 and 1977.
