The Willie Marshall Award was established by the AHL Board of Governors during the 2003-04 season to honor Willie Marshall, the American Hockey League’s all-time leader in goals, assists, points and games played.

It is presented annually to the player who scores the most goals during the AHL regular season.

Marshall, a 2006 inductee into the American Hockey League Hall of Fame, recorded 523 goals and 852 assists for 1,375 points in 1,205 career AHL games. He also ranks among the AHL’s career leader in Calder Cup Playoff goals (48 - 3rd), assists (71 - 2nd) and points (119 - 2nd).
